100 Deepfried Plastic Bags

A series of photographs demonstrating the alien, grotesque nature of plastic bags with emphasis put upon their luminous, artificial and synthetic appearance. The 'sculptures' were cooked in a deep fat fryer at a constant temperature in effort to transform their life-destroying, threatening form. This also emphasises the ease and convenience of reprocessing, allowing for a more attainable attitude to recycling. The deep-fried plastic bags are art directed and photographed in a fast food restaurant, using placement to suggest that they are edible. For impact, this fast forwards the process of emptying pollution and plastic into our oceans and therefore our food chain.
